‘We’ve Paid Kiss Daniel Over N120million And He Accused His Family Members Of Being Fetish’ – G-worldwide Blasts Kiss Daniel‘We’ve Paid Kiss Daniel Over N120million And He Accused His Family Members Of Being Fetish’ – G-worldwide Blasts Kiss Daniel

According to the statement which countered Kiss Daniel’s allegation following his exit from the label to set up his own music label,‘FlyBoy Inc‘, the artiste who reportedly accused his family members of being fetish has been paid over N120Million.
The Statement reads;
There has been a lot of misinformation in the media as to the background of Kiss Daniel’s wrongful exit from G-Worldwide Entertainment; firstly the management of G-Worldwide Entertainment wishes to state it had never been its intention to seek legal redress, nor join issues with an artist who we fear is being given bad legal advice. However, we feel it is important that we set the records straight for the benefit of the general public and others who are interested in knowing the truth.
We would like to reiterate that our organization’s sole mission is to scout, develop and promote artists till the point where both partners become profitable and the artiste can then decide to continue their creative journey as they deem fit. Contrary to widespread insinuations (and though we love a good joke) we are not a slave camp and we have no time whatsoever held any of the talents on our roster against their will.
The issue of restrictions on collaboration by our artists is one which has been well flogged and one we will address immediately – our management policy is unique in that we look for innovative ways to position our artists to build and own their sound and brands before seeking to collaborate with artists from other labels. To make this work, we train and develop our artists in a way that ensures that their first albums are well composed and delivered in a way that gives them the platform to sell their art as strong individual brands. This strategy is not without its results as is evident from Kiss Daniel’s debut album “New Era” receiving many positive reviews and landing the 8th place on the Billboard’s World Album Chart within a week of release. The Nigerian music industry is very competitive, and as such, it is pertinent that players in the market develop unique strategies to break in and remain relevant.
The New Era album of Kiss Daniel therefore only contained collaborative efforts with his label mate Sugarboy. However, on the soon to be released album ‘Evolution’ by Kiss Daniel, we have worked with other talents such as Phyno and Olamide. Sugarboy has also collaborated with Y-Cee on a song due to be released in January 2018.
There have also been issues raised that the company has not made available its books of accounts to Kiss Daniel, leading to him filing an action at the Lagos State High Court seeking an order granting him access to the books of the company. Whilst our lawyers have filed the necessary papers to strike out the suit, it is pertinent that we briefly note that at no time have we denied the artiste or his lawyers access to our books. With the facts we have, it is our belief that the suit is a ploy to misdirect the public away from his untimely and unlawful exit from the company. The label has records of email correspondence with Kiss Daniel where he and his representatives at different times requested for books of the company and same were supplied to them. All these have been placed before the court in response to the suit filed by the artist at the Lagos State High Court. Until now neither he nor his representatives have responded to papers filed challenging the competence of that suit. Sadly too, even though Kiss complained about access, in another breath he has admitted the audits held by his accountants and the label’s accountant.
Apart from the above, there have been rumours that Kiss Daniel has been on a monthly stipend of NGN 50,000 (Another great joke if we ever heard one). It is a known fact that such amounts will be insufficient to find and retain a decent apartment in Lagos nor cater for the lifestyle of any Nigerian celebrity. Kiss Daniel, contrary to that rumour, has received substantial allowances over the last two and half years.
In 2013, he was offered a 360 deal, and the terms of the initial contract have been reviewed twice in his favour, whilst the company has had to bankroll obligations relating to advertising, promotions, music production, videos, trips, wardrobe etc. at different times. Indeed, the company has been quite flexible with our remuneration policies with the belief that he will be able to build a solid financial base for himself. For the avoidance of doubt the following are some details of how the label catered for his financial needs as well as his personal welfare:
1. Contrary to rumours making the rounds that Kiss Daniel was only on NGN 30,000 salary since he joined the label up until after the release of the Woju and Laye singles, this is nothing but falsehood. Before the release of those singles in 2014, Kiss Daniel was being paid a monthly allowance of NGN 30,000 to cover basic personal costs whilst he was still in his father’s house in Kuto, Abeokuta, he was also given a medical allowance of NGN 150,000 and other unrecorded stipends whilst no revenue was being generated by him. This remained the norm while the label invested heavily in recording sessions, productions, transportation, and other costs associated with developing him as an artist.
2. Loans of up to NGN 550,000 were given to him within 2 weeks of his signing onto the label for him to get a car for his mom to start a Taxi business. There are documents to back this. In addition following his request for financial support for his dad’s burial, G-Worldwide released the sum of NGN 200,000 to him which was exactly what Kiss Daniel requested for. As recent as October 2017, he again requested for a loan to run his account in order to acquire a house for himself under a mortgage, to this end the company released NGN 13,000,000 (Thirteen Million Naira) to him though the company was not obligated under the contract to do so.
3. As per the contract between Kiss Daniel and G-Worldwide, the label was meant to recoup its investment before any royalty-sharing was to commence; the only provision available for the artiste was allowances and loans which would be at the discretion of the label. In June 2015 following his return from his UK tour, the company amended the contract and immediately began the payment of royalties as agreed and from that time till the wrongful termination of his contract. G-Worldwide has paid Kiss Daniel the sum of NGN 117,233,318 (One Hundred and Seventeen Million, Two Hundred Thirty-Three Thousand and Three Hundred and Eighteen Naira) as royalties from performances alone, he has also received money from other incomes to the sum of NGN
3,296,826.40 (Three Million, Two Hundred and Ninety Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Six Naira and forty kobo) for the financial record of 2016 as opposed to the false allegations made by him and his lawyers (The company’s books of account support this) As it stands, Kiss Daniel owes G-Worldwide Entertainment quite a large sum of money for the financial year due to end in 2018.
4. Following the signing of the contract in 2013, Kiss Daniel moved into an apartment furnished by the label in April 2014 in Lekki Lagos and only moved out in October 2015. Despite the terrible picture painted by Kiss Daniel to the media, the label actually during that period undertook the payment of all the bills in the said apartment, including waste, power, service charges, feeding, etc.
5. We have also noted the falsehood that at the time of his father’s demise, the label barred him from attending the burial. Let it be on record that immediately the news of his father’s demise filtered in, Emperor Geezy, CEO of the label authorized that his own personal car is used to convey Kiss Daniel to Abeokuta to attend and be a part of his father’s burial. The label CEO’s brother even accompanied him on this trip, as well as one of the label’s staff. Interestingly on arriving at a hotel in Abeokuta which had been fully paid for by the label, he refused to attend his own father’s burial on the grounds that he believed that his family are fetish and were responsible for his father’s death.

G-worldwide Reveals Why Kiss Daniel Did Not Attend His Father’s Burial

The exit of Kiss Daniel from G-worldwide and the surrounding circumstances has let open a bag of secrets as regards the happenings in the label, during his time there. It has been reported that Kiss Daniel was paid a paltry salary and that he was barred from attending his father’s burial, by the label executives.

However, in a statement made available to DAILY POST during the weekend, G-Worldwide not only dismissed reports that Kiss Daniel only received a paltry sum of N30, 000 monthly for his efforts but also revealed why the ‘Laye’ crooner shunned his father’s funeral.
The statement read in part: “Immediately the news of his father’s demise filtered in, Emperor Geezy, CEO of the label, authorised that his personal car should be used to convey Kiss Daniel to Abeokuta to attend his father’s burial.
“The singer only requested for two days’ leave, and N200,000 to send to his relatives, who had to bury the dad immediately because he was a Muslim. At that time, Kiss was bitterly angry that none of his family members could come up with even N10,000 to support his dad’s burial. The company was willing to give him more money but he said he needed only N200,000.
“The label CEO’s brother and one other person from the company even accompanied him on the trip back home.
Interestingly, on arriving at a hotel in Abeokuta, which had been fully paid for by the label, Kiss refused to attend his own father’s burial on the grounds that he believed that his family was fetish. He said that his father’s death was not ordinary, considering the way he suddenly fell ill and died, after going through a lot of pain. He was scared and said he did not want to be exposed to any dangers.

I regret marrying many wives - Kollington Ayinla

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2ApDMUyZzJnLrr2ucaW6AdKRjBBXRlgzfkNIweWansUmL591QlgASzi82y3ASU7hGwozDCUndl1bAQb3OJ493DkP2HS0JDQBx3JXxKJ6VWbqloKoHOYzakto3rigeXKwHeBqOXXg0g2RY/s1600/kola.jpg
Amidst the widespread rumour that he is currently laid up with a debilitating illness that requires urgent medical attention, you would have thought that he is still supine on his sickbed, while he is being drip-fed. But alas, it is a wicked rumour! During a recent visit by BABATUNDE SULAIMAN to the Alagbado, Lagos home of Alhaji Abdul-Razaq Kolawole Ilori, a.k.a. Kollington Ayinla, he was in a meeting with two relations within his expansive compound. Interestingly, as if the Fuji music maestro, who has 105 albums to his credit, had been hankering after an opportunity to unburden his heart, he opened up on some of his hitherto kept secrets, among other riveting issues
RECENTLY, it was rumoured that you were hospitalized and that you wanted to put up your house for sale in order to defray the medical bill. Could you give me the true picture of your state of health?
I am happy you can see me sitting in my compound today. So, what kind of ailment will you say I am suffering from? I have not contracted HIV/ AIDS and I don’t have cancer either, as it is being speculated. So, why will I want to sell my house so as to raise money for whatever treatment? I am hale and hearty. I was admitted to Amcad Hospital over three months ago and the doctors diagnosed little traces of ulcer and typhoid, and I was treated.
So, I was surprised when I read that I wanted to sell my house or that I sold my house because I needed money for my treatment. Oh my God! What kind of profession have I chosen? If one farts, people will say it is blue and if one pees, people will say it is green! But honestly, there is no iota of truth in that report. If I was sick, would I be sitting here? I would like to use this medium to express my gratitude to well-meaning Nigerians who have been calling to ask after my wellbeing.

Did you grant any interview recently, where you mentioned that you were sick?
Yes, I actually granted a reporter an interview, but I am surprised he misrepresented me and injected false information in his report. Please, look at the house in question (pointing to an uncompleted building within the premises). Can I sell this kind of house? Or will I sell this other one that I live in?
Many even think you want to sell the only house you have?
If that is true, will I now be putting up at a motor park or under a bridge? Today, I am most grateful to God for His favour in my life. He has given me fame and I don’t pray for a reversal of fortune. By the special grace of Allah, I have houses and some of my children too have built their own houses. Before now, some people thought I was living in Lekki. Yes, there is a big mansion in Lekki built by one of my daughters, who is a registered nurse in the US. I had a plan for the house from the outset. So, why will I sell my house to raise money in order to treat malaria or ulcer?
What was your plan?
I wanted to use it as a hotel. However, I was advised against such a plan on the grounds that I might not be able to maintain it later on. They also advised me that it might be mismanaged by the workers. So, I was confused and didn’t know what to do with the house any more. Consequently, I stopped work on it for a good reason.
Could you expatiate?
I don’t want anyone to kill me over my property. That is the main reason I said that I could put it up for sale some day, if I so wish. The Yoruba say, Ara ile e ni, ni ota eni (Your family is your enemy). I alone know the spiritual battle I am fighting within my family. You see, the fall of a yellow leaf is a warning to the green one. All my children are faring well in their respective professions. Most of my children are graduates and they live in different parts of the world. They are not the ones after my property.
But the enemies within are those that I had mistakenly got married to in the early stage of my career. These are the people plotting my death, so they can take over my property. But I won’t allow such a thing to happen after my death. As far as I am concerned, those people who made me go through hell in life will not have access to my property. Therefore, rather than allow this property or any other one to be inherited by these people, I will sell it off. So, that was what I told the reporter. I never said I sold my house; yet, he reported that I did because of health condition. I am a not a sickler!
How will you react to the insinuation that you built the house in Lekki, which you claimed is owned by your daughter, after you played Baba Ijebu lotto and won some millions of naira?
I swear with Allah’s name and that of the holy Prophet, I don’t know how the Baba Ijebu lotto paper looks like and I have never met Baba Ijebu either. It is more than five years since I started hearing the rumour that I won Baba Ijebu lotto. They said I won N400million and that I sued Baba Ijebu to court when he defaulted. They also said Baba Ijebu promised to be paying me N1million monthly. I have refuted all these rumours several times, but nobody seems to believe me.
Maybe the people saying this have carried out an evaluation of the house and concluded that you couldn’t have built it, if you didn’t make so much money possibly from playing Baba Ijebu lotto.
Yes, you are right. But you see, as a father, whatever your child owns is indirectly yours. As I said earlier, it is owned by my daughter who lives in the U.S.
You said earlier that you made some mistakes in the past. Could you expatiate?
It is rare to find a musician, especially in this part of the world, who has not fallen into the same pit. In my case, I regret marrying many wives. If I knew things would later turn out like this, I wouldn’t have married so many women. Human beings are unpredictable! Don’t also forget that women are very jealous; they don’t like rivalry in any way. But we were too young and ignorant to know all these at that time.
In our kind of profession, if you don’t invite them (women), they will come running to you. If you have a relationship with five people, you will find someone who will be acting like Judas among them. I am not pointing finger at anyone. So, once you know that some people are after your life, even if it is a rumour, you must be very wary. So, I am trying to be smarter by wanting to sell my house, so that no one will inherit what is not rightfully hers.
If you decide to sell all your property because of the fear of attack by some so-called enemies, don’t you consider what will happen to your children?
Most of my children are graduates, so they can’t be interested in my property. In my case, I am not so educated and I didn’t inherit anything from my parents. It was by God’s grace that I got to this height in life. So, the children too will sort out themselves.
How true is the report that you have 15 wives?
No, I am not married to 15 wives! It is a lie! Yes, I have wives and children. This is one of the problems I have with the Nigerian press. They don’t build, but destroy. Well, I won’t really say that it is destructive; after all, they didn’t report that I stole anything. A white man may choose to have a wife or not and he may choose to have children or not. But nobody will make a fuse about it. Sometime ago, I was discussing with my children, in company with a white guy, at a restaurant in Chicago. When I mentioned that my problem is that none of my wives lives with me, the white guy wondered why that should be a problem for me.
But this is Africa?
Yes, you are right and I told him so. You see, in my heart, I truly wish I have a woman living with me. I want to live a responsible life. But if you are battling with a spiritual problem, it will be hard to live a responsible life. Also, once the foundation of one’s life is shaky, it will be really tough to actualize one’s dream in life. Once you make a mistake in your choice of woman or even in your affairs with women, it will take the grace of God to make any correction. So, I urge the younger artistes to be very wary of women.
So, none of your wives lives with you at the moment?
I won’t lie to you that I have a particular woman living with me at the moment. Well, those of them who have children for me come maybe when their children are getting married and go back afterwards.
Why do celebrities shy away from disclosing the number of their children and wives while they are alive so as to prevent a situation where unsubstantiated reports are peddled about their families when they pass on?
All I will say is that I am married and blessed with children. But the tradition doesn’t permit me to disclose the number of my children.
When specifically were you admitted to the hospital?
It was about two months ago. After I was discharged, I have gone to perform at Osogbo with Musiliu Isola Haruna.
Looking back now, would you say you squandered the first millions you made, as most young and budding artistes are wont to do?
If I did, would I have this kind of house? In 1983, I opened a fish depot at Adua Bus Stop. Unfortunately, I lost it to spiritual attack. At that time, I was sick for 13 years.
Did you say 13 years?
It was a spiritual attack and they couldn’t diagnose anything. At that time, former Nigerian military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, directed that I be taken to the1004 Hospital, Lagos. They ran a series of tests on me, but nothing was found. They flushed out typhoid from my system and I thank God for saving my life at that time. When I travelled to America and was admitted to a hospital, they still couldn’t diagnose anything. But I knew something was wrong with my system.
Later, they suggested that I consult traditional medicine practitioners. We then began to patronise Alfas and traditional medicine practitioners before I got well fully. May Allah grant my friend, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, eternal rest. Whenever he visited me at Crown Hospital, he would massage my legs because I was on drip. In fact, on some occasions, I would leave the hospital to play and return there. I was in and out of different hospitals. But I spent more time at Crown Hospital. The truth, again, is that it was all due to my affairs with women.
Certainly, you must be close to IBB for him to have done that for you.
It was because I was singing mostly about current affairs. I was introduced to the former president by Chief Alex Akinyele, who was then the Minister of Information. Even when my first house was gutted by fire, IBB sent a minister to console me. In his speech, the minister explained why the government’s delegation had visited me. He said it was because I had used my music to promote the government’s policies. He gave me a cheque; the late MKO Abiola, Gen. Sanni Abacha, Col. Raji Rasaki also gave me money. In fact, Col. Raji Rasaki gave me a house in Ogudu. I spent six months at the Gateway Hotel and I didn’t pay a dime. So, I beg these people to allow me enjoy my remaining years on earth. Come to think of it, am I not the owner of the house? Can’t I do what I like with it? Don’t kill me as you killed my friend, Barrister.
Did anyone kill Barrister?
Didn’t they kill him? Are you saying it wasn’t a spiritual attack? Imagine someone who was bedridden for that long. At the outset, they carried all sorts of rumour about him until he eventually died. So, people should allow me enjoy the fruit of my labour. I can do whatever I like with my property.
But people say you and the late Barrister were not the best of friends.
It is all business gimmicks! We were not enemies as such. This is a friendship that developed in 1963 when we didn’t know we would be famous at all.
What do you miss most about him?
Oh! I miss him a lot. Whenever he visited me, we would joke, play and recount old memories. Sometimes, he would just deliberately say, “Let me poke Kola” and I would say, “Go ahead and see the result.” He once came here and while we were eating, he said, “Do you know that as we sit here, some people are out there fighting one another over us?” and I said, “Yes”. One day, he came here with his son, Barry Showkey, who had just produced an album. He told me he had blessed it, but he wanted me, as Barry Showkey’s second father, to do the same. That day, he also said, “Kola, let’s put an end to this rivalry” and I said, “Who is fighting you? Are you not the one who always insults me with proverbs?” And we all laughed over it.
Recently, Queen Salawa Abeni was ill and your name was never mentioned among the people who visited her while she was on sickbed. This, to me, further shows that you have not resolved your issues.
I still spoke with her three days ago, when my daughter came to inform me that she was going to London. I speak regularly with her. I read about her illness in the newspapers and I felt that I should be the first person to know about it. I am her husband in the whole wide world; after all, she can’t be thinking of getting married to any man at her age now. We don’t have any issue. But I later visited her at home..
You claim to be her husband when you are not legally married to each other.
She has three children for me and you are still asking me if we are legally married or not.
Maybe that is why she feels she is not obliged to tell you certain things.
She was just being funny then. Now, she knows I am her husband and I know she is my wife.
Is it not possible for both of you to live as husband and wife, under the same roof since you said there is no woman living with you at the moment?
The reason we can’t live together is that I don’t want to endanger her life. If she moves in with me, don’t you think her seniors will kick against it? I am happy at the way she is. Besides, she takes care of my children. In the same way, I can’t bring in any of the other women. So, I only need to reorganize myself.
Is this the biggest mistake you have made in life?

Comic actor, Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr. Latin, has explained what motivated him to go back to school

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, standing and outdoor
Comic actor, Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr. Latin, has explained what motivated him to go back to school despite shooting to stardom.
Thirty-five years after he completed his secondary school education, he is now an undergraduate at the National Open University of Nigeria, where he is studying Peace and Conflict Resolution.
He told Sunday Scoop that if he had been well educated, he would have gone far in the entertainment industry.
“John Okafor and others are fantastic actors and comedians, but they are not better than us. They are just fortunate to be speaking a universally-accepted language and they are all graduates too. So, if I can add a little bit of education to my profile, I believe I will go places. That has been my determination and I am working towards it,” he stated.
He went ahead to say that regardless of all that King Sunny Ade and King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, aka KWAM 1, have achieved, the likes of Davido and Wizkid still have an edge over them.
He said, “If KSA and KWAM 1 go to Uganda or any other country, the way they would be accepted will be different from the way Wizkid, Olamide and Davido would be accepted.
“The younger artistes sing with English Language even though they still add the local dialect. It means people in other countries will relate with their music better. Whether we like it or not, the truth is that Yoruba language is limited to a small set of people.”
According to Mr. Latin, most of his friends are now in high places in the government and other sectors, arguing that he might be called upon to work in any capacity some day.
He added, “So, I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. I may be fortunate to venture into politics or I may be fortunate to have a friend in the Presidency, who is passionate about the theatre and thinks I can be of help. But if I don’t have a certificate to back it up, I will not be able to do it.
“I know it is not easy combining acting and schooling, but I try to make both work. It is all about having a scale of preference and using your time well. I work during the day and I study at night. I make use of the Internet well too.”
He stated that he had realised that without education, one’s achievement would be limited, saying provided one was ambitious, there was a need to seek knowledge.
He added, “Gani Adams went back to school and it has paid off. Same thing applies to Odunlade Adekola. I just implore everyone to add education to whatever we do so that people will appreciate us better.”
On why it took him 35 years to realise the importance of education, he said, “I came from a very poor background. My mother sold ogi (pap) while my father was a hunter. They could not afford to send me to the university. I had to work hard to get to where I am today. Now that I can eat two times in a day, I can afford to send myself to school too.”

Popular gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele has confirmed that he would celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ghastly auto accident that confined him to a wheelchair and changed his life forever.
Recall that on December 12, 1997, Ayefele was involved in a ghastly motor accident along Ibadan/Abeokuta Road. The tragic event in which he lost the use of legs has been the motivation for many of his songs.
According to the musician, the ceremony would be a week-long series of activities in Oyo and Ekiti states between December 12 and December 17.
Ayefele said he believes the incident, though a sad one, was what transformed his life and he has to reach out to people in order to appreciate God’s magnanimity in his life over the last two decades.
Hence, on Tuesday, December 12, Ayefele and his friends will be in his hometown of Ipoti, Ekiti State, to commission a multi-million naira hall he will be donating to his alma mater, Ipoti High School. The event will hold at the Music House, Challenge, Ibadan.

JAMB Postpones Sales Of Application Forms For 2018 UTME

According Benjamin, the sale of the application documents, which was scheduled to start on November 22, suffered delay due to the publishers’ inability to print the 1.8 million copies of the forms before the deadline.
“This postponement was due to the delay in meeting agreed deadline by the publisher of the Compulsory Reading Text meant for prospective candidates for the 2018 UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations).
“The publisher had promised to deliver all the texts for the 2018 candidates on or before November 7 but as at close of work today, the publisher has not provided the 1.8 million copies required.
“This development has painfully forced the Board to shift the date from Wednesday, November 22 to a date to be announced soon,” he said.
Benjamin added that a new date would be announced soon and urged intending applicants to visit its website and familiarise themselves with the application procedures.
“All reforms and the process of registration have been made very friendly and easy for candidates desirous of applying for the 2018 exercise.
“The advertisement when out will explain step by step the processes of obtaining the application e-pins and registration,” Benjamin concluded.

Fans Hit Wizkid Again For Not Attending Any Of Banky W’s Wedding (Read What They Are Saying)

Some fans are disappointed over the action of Wizkid for being absent at Banky W’s wedding in Cape Town after he failed to fulfill the promise he made few days back.
The singer, who presumably was sad that he couldn’t make it to the traditional wedding of Banky W about a week ago, promised that he was gonna be there at his white wedding in Cape town.
Banky’s white wedding was yesterday and photos flew around social media from the event and everyone kept searching for one where Wizkid featured but none was found.
See some reactions below:-

Adesua Etomi Will Still Leave Banky W & Come Back To Me – Kunle Remi

 a
After it became public knowledge that Banky W had slid into Nollywood actress, Adesua Etomi‘s DM and she had opened the door for him – even set a table in there for him – reports emerged that she was initially seeing another actor, Kunle Remi.
From that point on, up until the climax of the former’s union yesterday in Cape Town, South Africa, Kunle Remi has had to contend – quite masterfully I must say – with the “you lost your babe to that shinny head” remarks.
I decided to catch up with the dude this morning in my head and below is our conversation.
ME: Hi Kunle. Howdy?
KR: Apart from having to see images upon images of #BAAD2017? I’m fine.
ME: So, was it true that Adesua was dating you before Banky came along?
KR: Yeah.
ME: And she left you for Banky?
KR: Yes.
ME: Why do you think she left?
KR: I don’t know.
ME: Was it because Banky is a bigger boy than you and all you do is form fine boy for Nollywood posters?
KR: You’re mad!
ME: I know. People also say you’re not even a good actor, that’s why you depend on opening your shirt at every opportunity you get. And that’s why she left you for someone who has got everything over you.a
KR: What rubbish is this, TNS? Are you a fool?
ME: Yes. Do you know my surname?
KR: Why the phyuk should I care?
ME: Because it answers your last three questions.
KR: I think you should phyuk off and stop your pathetic attempt to troll. That’s why nobody likes TNS.
ME: I also hear, even though you wanted to go for the wedding, you couldn’t afford the aṣọ ẹbi. They said your matter would have been worse than Masterkraft’s if you attended.
KR: Why should I attend? When I am confident their marriage will end soon. Give it two years. Or is that not how celebrity marriages end these days?
ME: Are you asking me? Are you not supposed to be one of them? At least that’s what Instagram tells me.
KR: I am not married so please don’t ask me phyuked up questions.
ME: So, you think Adesua will come back to you?
KR: I am confident she will. I am waiting for her.

Comparing Wizkid To Fela Is A Dumb Idea!

“Starboy call me number 1..”. we all know this line and the lines that precede it, what is becoming hard to explain is how for some reason some people are now seeing Wizkid as number one in the history of Afrobeat.
Since his successful concert at the Royal Albert Hall on the 29th of September, fans of Wizkid have for whatever reason crowned him the King of Afrobeat, with some fans on Twitter comparing him to the likes of 2Baba and even saying he is not comparable to any artiste. We’ve all got our different opinions and that is fine, but one opinion that I disagree with is the one that compares Wizkid to Fela Anikulapo Kuti. The thought of such comparison is a disrespect to everything the Fela brand stands for and should not be done.
Now, let’s start with the basics, these legendary artistes, Fela, Tuface, Wizkid all operated in different time periods. This basic fact alone foils any attempt to compare them, but fans sometimes do not draw limit, so let’s go on.
1. Fela Composed Songs, Wizkid Does NOT Compose: Fela Anikulapo Kuti was an avid composer of great hits. He originated the genre we all love today called Afrobeat and his contributions into this genre can never be overemphasized. Fela did not just write his songs (lyrics and melodies), he also arranged, composed and produced all his music and then went on to play the music he compoased using several instruments from the trumpet, saxophone, keyboard, guitars and drums; he was known as a multi-instrumentalist.
Should we also talk about his skill as a music conductor while directing his band and singers to deliver their best performance on every LIVE performance? Who produced Fela’s songs? Fela himself. Baba was the music composer, singer, producer, writer, conductor and more to all his songs, songs that lasted for nothing less than seven minutes long! Now in this space, I do not see a Wizkid presence because our superstar boy isn’t doing any of such other than writing lyrics and melodies.
2. The Times & Competition: Another thing to consider is the level of competition in their various times. Fela and 2Baba were not faced with as much competition as Wizkid presently is, hence they were not singing constantly to stay relevant. In as much as they all wanted to make the money, they were singing because they had/have something to say and fortunately for them, they had music to say these things as skilfully as they knew how to will fetch them more money… very fortunately for them, I must say. On the other hand, Wizkid has the likes of Davido, Olamide and other young artistes we can consider his contemporaries and for that reason, he has to keep pushing his name and his music to keep the spotlight on him and we would agree that this competition has helped Wizkid a lot.
3. Opportunities Available: Let’s understand the time Wizkid is operating in; the 2000s. Wizkid is presently operating at a time where Afrobeat is getting all the attention of the world, at a time where every international artiste understands the goldmine in Africa, especially Nigeria and also understands that collaborating with a good Nigerian artiste is a big win for them, hence the path has been paved clear, but the question is who paved that path? who introduced Nigerian music to the world, who gave afrobeat a global appeal? who changed the game and opened the eyes of the young ones to see that the game can even be changed in the first place? It is funny how we are now comparing the way makers who did the work to the people they paved the way for… it’s like One Corner, it doesn’t make sense.
This is not to say Wizkid got his fame on a platter, of course not! The young man from Ojuelegba paid his dues, but his dues were no longer as much because some people already paid a greater part of it. Because at the end of the day, the dream is to take Afrobeat to the world and one person cannot do it, and for that reason, Wizkid is taking off where these legends stopped, there is no need for competition.
4. Fela Had A Cause: We have to understand that the likes of Fela and 2Baba did not release songs to stay relevant, but because they had/have something to say. Fela didn’t have that much of a beautiful voice, but we all know he wasn’t judged by it either and his voice was perfect for the message he passed. His messages made him a prophet of his time and he expressed these messages through music and instrument.
Fela is not being respected because of the number of songs he sang, tours he made, countries he visited, or the audience that graced his shows, amounting Fela to that is an insult to a memory painstaking created and fought for. Fela is being respected all over the world because of the message he passed with his music, so maybe we should try to compare Wizkid with messages and see how well we would fail in this attempt.
This also can be said for 2baba who sings against social justice and sometimes can be a bit political with his music, but that cannot be said for Wizkid.
Now, we are not saying Wizkid should go all political or become an activist with his music, we are only sayingg he cannot be compared to the likes of Fela who demonstrated thei activism with their music and despite all the trails he faced, he kept on eith it, an attitude that made him a force to reckon with in the world.
Wizkid has a beautiful voice, wonderful stage performance, feel-good music too and a hard worker that has taken himself from Ojuelegba to the world, but let us be sincere, some people’s love for Wizkid is more about what he represents, how hard working he is rather than what he stands for or has done for his country, Nigeria. We love his personal success that reflects positively on Nigeria and Africa. We appreciate his hard work and how his life shows every young African that there is no shortcut to success even at this time of shortcuts and we are happy that he promotes Africa with his music. But when we want to compare someone with Wizkid where music is concerned, where personality is concerned, please let’s not call Fela because that’s an insult to everything he represents neither should we call 2Baba because he doesn’t operate on the same level with our Starboy. These fans, love your favorite artiste but don’t insult others while you do it.
So I say it again, comparing Wizkid to Fela is a dumb idea because while Wizkid did make history on the 30th of  September at the Royal Albert Hall, Fela IS THE HISTORY that walked the earth, the HISTORY we have no choice but to continue celebrating!
